A KICKBOXING club in Callington held its first club gradings on the first anniversary of its launch.
South West Kickboxing Academy (SWKA), has its class on Friday nights at Callington Sport Leisure between 7.30 and 9pm.
Coach Steve Lilley, who is a black belt, second dan — as is his assistant Andy Gardiner — said: 'It formed out of the remains of Garry Harrison American Style Kickboxing classes from Callington and Liskeard when he disbanded them.
'Two students (Andy Miles and Alison Murphy) sat their first belt, which is red, and they both passed second class.
'I had three brown and black belts take their black belts first dans, of which two passed (Kerry Crowther and Chris Morgan) and one is on probation.
'A number of the class have been training together for about four to five years so their hard work has paid off.'
The club welcomes new members and meets in the centre's dance studio between 7.30pm and 9pm and costs £5 per class.
