THE Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion and the legion's social club will hold their 2013 annual meetings on Friday, November 22 in the legion social club.

The branch meeting, open to all members, will be followed by the social club annual meeting. It is hoped these will be well supported by both branch and club members.

The Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion continues to maintain a healthy membership. However, a concerted effort is being made to attract younger people in order to secure the legion's future.

In an effort to achieve this, the branch is going to affiliate with the Okehampton detachments of the Air Training Corps and the Army Cadet Force.

Anyone is eligible to join the RBL, with service in the armed forces not a pre-requisite for membership. All that is needed is a strong interest in helping with the pursuit of the legion's aims to provide welfare assistance to both current and former service personnel and their dependants.

Both meetings will provide details of the activities of the past twelve months and future intentions, as well as reports on the accounts and appointment of branch and club officers.

Members wishing to table items for consideration and discussion at the branch meeting should be submitted in writing to the branch secretary by Friday, November 17. Items for the club meeting should be submitted to the club secretary by the same date.
