Were you a sprinter at school or college ? Or were you better at running longer distances ? Did you enjoy field events? Would you like to try your favourite event again to see how your performance compares? Or are you a runner who would like to see what it is like to run on the track ?

If the answer to any of these is yes then Tavistock Athletic Club is offering the opportunity to all local adults and children of 8 or over to have a go at two open meetings on Tuesday, October 25 and November 22 to be held at the track at Tavistock College under floodlighting.

Meeting organiser Adam Tofield said: 'There must be much latent talent in the area, and the club would love to see some of this re-kindled and to see many more local people use the facility, one of only four public tracks in Devon.'

Track events will range from the 75 metres to 3000 metres, and field events include the long jump, shot and javelin. The full programme for both nights can been seen on the club's website http://www.tavistockathletics.com">www.tavistockathletics.com. Please get to the track 30 minutes before the event you want to take part in in order to register and pay an entry fee of £3. The first events start at 6.30. The evenings will be run by qualified officials with assistance from club members.
