FIVE girls who belong to Tavistock RFC are part of the Devon U18s squad who on Sunday were crowned champions of the South West after winning three out of three games.
The girls beat their old rival Cornwall in the Tamar Cup derby 65-0, beat Gloucestershire 27-5 and to confirm their title went on to defeat Dorset and Wilts 24-0.
Kirsty McCall, Clara Nielson, Alice Conn, Robynne Honey and Paige McGechie were all chosen to represent their county from the Tavistock side.
Katy Scorer, Ali Huntly, Jo Abel and Bethany Neave from Tavistock U15s were selected to represent the county at the younger level.
Tavistock U18s' girls RFC are set to embark on a sporting and cultural tour to Edinburgh next April and are holding a Ceilidh at Tavistock Rugby Club tomorrow to raise funds for the trip.
Organisers invite people to go along and support them. The U15s will be holding a raffle at the event to support their own tour to North Dorset.
The girls will also be busy bag packing at Somerfields tomorrow and Saturday and are organising a fancy dress tag-rugby tournament on Sunday starting at 12.30pm.
The tournament is for all ages and both sexes. Jo Williams of Jo's Bar, Plymouth Road has kindly sponsored the event.
So go along and join in the fun from 12 noon onwards!
