AGE Concern Okehampton and Torridge are giving the opportunity for older people who live in rural Devon to take part in a research forum. The group is looking for eight people between the ages of 50 and 59, at least three of whom will be retired, who can spare one hour on Wednesday, February 23, to take part in the forum at Okehampton Age Concern centre in Crediton Road. Barrie Duke, chief officer, said: ?We are trying to get a picture of how people think the world will be like in the future and how they see it now. A payment will be made to those who are chosen to take part. We are hoping to contact those who can help us now as well as those who would like to be involved with future forums. ?As an organisation we are now trying to encourage people to both speak up for themselves and help themselves in today?s challenging and changing world.? Age Concern has developed a new technology centre in Okehampton to cope with the increasing amount of requests for information and advice and advocacy support, and to help older people who want to learn about the internet and computers, and their use, without paying for courses. Potential participants will be asked to complete an Age Concern Research Services questionnaire to identify differing views on a number of issues. Anyone interested should contact the Okehampton centre on 01837 55838 with their name, address and telephone number.
