THERE were tasty cakes galore when St Andrew's School in Buckland Monachorum held a 'High Tea for Haiti'.

Parents decided to hold the event to raise money for the ShelterBox Haiti appeal.

They brought in the cakes and the pupils created posters to advertise the event.

Elizabeth Marshall, teaching assistant at St Andrew's, said: 'There were cakes everywhere but we sold out very quickly. The event was tremendously supported and raised a staggering £491.78 in just under two hours.

'The cakes were fantastic but even so, event organisers couldn't believe they would raise enough for a ShelterBox to be sent to Haiti. They are happy to report however, that it is now on its way.'

Pictured at the cake stand are parents Mrs Mary Lowther, Mrs Gill Rieuwerts and a Year 6 pupil.
