MASTERCHEF Peter Gorton of Tavistock has this month added a new good cause to the list of charities he supports in the area.

Peter, who owns Gorton's restaurant in Plymouth Road, last week presented a cake to Jock Easton for the Help for Heroes charity, which is holding a big fundraising cake sale.

Peter said: 'We have so many links with the forces in this area and the charity does wonderful work for all those injured servicemen, I wanted to do something to help.

'I am also arranging to do some cookery courses in Tavistock with some of the injured soldiers, and we will be doing a Help for Heroes evening at the restaurant.'

Peter has raised thousands of pounds for Children's Hospice South West over the years — he also supports the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust and cancer charities.
