MAY I remind your readers that the ?Cards for Good Causes? multi-charity Christmas Card Shop is underway again this year from Tuesday 18th Oct to Saturday December 17 (Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm) at the United Reformed Church, Russell Street, Tavistock. Cards for Good Causes sells charity Christmas cards on behalf of UK charities, both national and local. The aim is simple ? to offer the widest possible choice of charity cards and to present the charities with as much money as possible from the sale of their cards. Last year, over 300 charities received £5-million from Christmas card sales throughout the UK, representing at least 81p in every pound. Obviously, it isn?t possible for every penny you pay to go to charity because of the costs of design, printing, distribution, shop space, etc. However, costs are kept to the minimum because of the many volunteers who give their time to man the shops and because of the many charitable, church and business organisations who help out with publicity. Last year, the Tavistock shop alone contributed over £25k to charity. This year, over 100 local volunteers are giving their time to help run our shop in aid of their various charities. Further volunteers to cover gaps in the rota and sponsors to help with publicity are very much needed. Anyone able to help in these ways would be welcome indeed. If you can help, do please contact me at 01822 616560. Otherwise, please come along to buy your Christmas cards at our shop at the United Reformed Church, Russell Street.
