WHEN it comes to ?doughing? it better to help Save the Children as part of National Doughnut Week, W T Endacott Ltd of Okehampton take the biscuit.

Michael Finucane from the bakery said: ?We?re calling on people in Okehampton to get involved with this tasty event that helps a really great cause.?

W T Endacott Ltd will be pledging to give six pence to the UK?s leading international children?s charity for every doughnut sold from Saturday February 22 to Saturday March 1.

?We hope that all our customers both new and old will join us for a lot of laughs and to raise as much money as we can for Save the Children?s vital work,? said Mr Finucane.

The money raised by the Okehampton bakery ? along with other High Street bakeries across the country supporting the event ? will be used by Save the Children in their work to make a reality of every child?s right to a happy, safe and secure childhood.

Working in more than 70 countries around the world, including the UK, Save the Children is leading a major campaign to beat child poverty.

Save the Children spokesperson Toby Tennant said: ?We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and support High Street bakeries across the country have shown for this ?jam-tastic? event in this, its twelfth year.? He said thanks to their efforts National Doughnut Week 2003 will raise much-needed funds.

Since the first National Doughnut Week in 1992, more than £400,000 has been raised for Save the Children by High Street bakeries across the UK.
