CHILDREN and staff at the Old School Children's Centre in Whitchurch were thrilled to be told they had won two local competitions with their work.

Both the Butterfly and Ladybird groups came first in their age groups in the Tavistock Garden Festival small gardens competition, winning child-friendly gardening equipment and seeds to plant.

The butterfly group were even more surprised to find they had won first prize in a drawing competition with the Early Times and won a trip for 50 children, parents and staff to visit the Miniature Pony Centre.

Children and staff at the Old School expressed thanks to everyone who was involved.
