A YELVERTON butcher has been awarded ?Man of the Year? by Slimming World after he lost under four stone within five months. Steve Bullen, 39, from Bidder, W A and Sons first started weight loss while taking part in a pioneering slimming group on the NHS to improve his sleep apnoea. When the trial finished he was so committed to his weight loss he joined his local Slimming World Group. He said: ?I must admit when friends and family found out I was going to try to lose weight they doubted whether I could do it, I even doubted myself until I found out how easy it was. ?When I first joined the group I didn?t know what to expect. I was afraid I would be introduced to a boring ?faddy diet? but in fact it was quite the opposite ? with so much unlimited free food to choose from.? Steve and his wife Debbie attend Slimming World, Yelverton, on a Wednesday at 7pm and their combined weight loss is more than five stone. A machine used at night to improve Steve?s breathing has been reduced considerably. He and his wife feel fitter, not so breathless and have more energy. Steve is so dedicated and proud of his weight loss that he displays all his achievement awards on the back wall of his shop for all to see.
