TAVISTOCK-based Dartmoor Search And Rescue Team has been kept busy in recent weeks with a spate of callouts.
The team has been called on eight occasions in six weeks to a variety of incidents on and off the moor.
There have been several casualty incidents, including escorting a group of exhausted teenagers on a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition in the West Dart Valley to safety, a lady with a broken arm sustained while crossing a stream near Childe's Tomb, and a stretcher carry of a 60 year old man who had collapsed near Fox Tor.
An all-night search for a team of scouts lost on the South Moor also involved Plymouth and Ashburton Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams.
The latest callout was for an elderly lady with dementia who had gone missing near Paignton. A major search was undertaken, involving the police, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams from Tavistock, Okehampton, Plymouth and Ashburton, Exmoor SRT and the police helicopter.
The lady was found in dense woodland some 24 hours after going missing.
