YELVERTON lady golfers have been busy in the last two weeks.
On Thursday June 28 they played an extra medal competition. The silver division was won by Di Friend with a net 73 and Kay Creaven was runner-up (on the back nine) also with a net 73.
The bronze division was won by Georgie Evans with a net 77 and runner-up was Penny Hunter with a net 80.
A week later they played another medal competition and Warren Crocus qualifying round. The silver division was won by Rosie Ring with a net 69 and she will represent Yelverton in the Warren Crocus competition in October. Runner-up was Belinda McSherry with a net 71.
The bronze division was won by Annie Marshall with a net 81 and runner-up was Shirley Cook with a net 86.
On Monday the ladies held their three ball better ball open competition at Yelverton. The course was in superb condition, thanks to new head green-keeper, Steve Evans and his staff.
The sun shone and 150 ladies competed for excellent prizes supplied by the professional, Tim McSherry.
The winners were from Teignmouth, A Legg, J Tolley and P Goodey with 82 points, and second with the same enormous score were P Crowe, B Dyke and R Cirin from Churston.
The day was masterminded by Mary Geen and Pat Gove and their band of helpers.
A small, but enthusiastic group of ladies competed for the men's captain's prize on Saturday and were able to partake of a delicious barbecue cooked near the ninth tee by captain Jon Davey.
Karen Friendship won the ladies first prize with 36 stapleford points, runner-up was Belinda McSherry with 33 points, and Laura Eastwood won the junior first prize with 38 stapleford points which reduced her handicap to 3.3.
