IT was not only an early start for local West Devon runners to make their way to Newton Abbot in time for the Dartmoor Vale 10k last Sunday it was also cold enough for the first frost of the year.

Taking part in the 10k were six members of Tavistock Athletic Club and a lone Bere Alston Trekker. 

Making his race debut for Tavistock was Adey Pitcher who finished in 53.57.  First man home for Tavistock and second overall was Tony Symonds in a time of 35:37 and joint first ladies were Vicki Lloyd and Beth Pirie who were chased home by Dotty Allan for Bat's.

Taking part in the half marathon was Andy Houghton (1.45.47).

Club members were achieving great times in other races.  Peter Bazley (1.26.25) and John Marshall (1.39.15) both ran personal best's in the Cardiff half marathon and Sam and Paul Marshall ran brilliantly in the Amsterdam Marathon.

SEVEN members of Bere Alston Trekkers took to the hot, hilly route that is the Eden Half Marathon in Cornwall.

Making their half marathon debut for the club were Erin Jarvis who achieved a personal best by eight minutes and Julian Setterington.  First male Bat home was Dave Adams and for the ladies Jo Campbell.
