OKEHAMPTON Acoustic Club will hold its penultimate meeting of the year this weekend, promising another evening of quality music.

Featured guests for the session on Saturday, November 10 include Okehampton based acoustic band MoorReason, singer-songwriter Phil Garvey, and country and folk rock songwriter Peter Crawford. Club founders Phil Bird and Anna Georghiou, members of the band Troubadour's Garden, will also play a set.

Phil Garvey will travel from Oxford to perform a solo set. Influenced heavily by 60s harmony bands, Phil is known for his loud warbles and quirky songs inspired by real life events. His band Reckless Sleeper will release a new album in 2013.

Peter Crawford's performances range from foot-stomping to atmospheric, with his songs influenced by country music and folk rock. He has recently completed a tour of Germany, Belgium and Holland.

MoorReason was formed just over two years ago, and the band has a growing repertoire of original songs. They performed at the town's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Simmons Park, and have also played a number of South West music festivals.

The club was set up earlier this year, holding its first music night in February. They meet on the second Saturday of each month, promoting acoustic music and musicians living in the area.

The acoustic club will meet at the Ockment Centre with doors open at 7.30pm.

Entry costs £2.50, and guests can bring their own refreshments. For more information visit http://www.okehamptonacousticclub.moonfruit.com">www.okehamptonacousticclub.moonfruit.com
