VENUS Beauty and Hair raised a staggering £588 for its ‘charities of the year’.
Every year Venus selects a specific charity to fundraise for and to help raise awareness and funds.
In 2017 they spilt their total between MIND and local charity Make A Difference.
Beauty therapist and co-owner Kirsty Douglas travelled to London in April last year to take part in an event called ‘Nailing Mental Health’.
The goal was to do as many manicures as possible in an eight-hour period. All money raised at the event was for MIND.
For the remainder of the year Venus raised money for Make A Difference — a Tavistock based charity offering help and support for those suffering with mental health problems.
Make A Difference is run entirely by volunteers and through the generosity of the clients, Venus was able to present a cheque for £288.
Venus’ 2018 charity of the year is Tavistock Amateur Boxing Club (ABC), a volunteer run club offering classes to children and adults while creating brilliant opportunities to its members and the local community.
Watch out throughout the year to see Venus take part in various fundraising events to raise money for this great cause.
