CHANGES and improvements are being made to the Tavistock Community Bus, which will take effect from Tuesday, September 27. Organisers of the ?Tavistock Country Bus? have made several changes to help provide a better service for more people. The Tuesday 117 service will now loop from Chillaton through Sydenham, Portgate and Lewdown before returning to Chillaton via Lowertown, and passing through Lamerton before reaching Tavistock. The Thursday 114 service from Lifton to Tavistock will now turn at Tinhay, running directly to Meadwell and Kelly. This will give shoppers more time in Tavistock, although the bus will be picking passengers up 12 minutes earlier than before. There will also be an extra bus at 12.50pm as well as the usual 1.15pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays looping past the hospital, along St. Maryhaye and Courtlands Road before returning to the square via Duke Street. The fares of the community bus will be going up slightly to help cover the cost of fuel. Leaflets with bus times and fare prices are available from the bus and Information Centre, or you can telephone 01822 833574 or 01822 870433.
