AS part of changes to bus services from Tavistock, Stagecoach has announced there will no longer be a direct bus from the town to Plymouth’s train station.

Stagecoach South West announced the changes as part of the first significant revamp of the operator’s services since it took over a number of routes from First Devon and Cornwall in September 2015.

Central to the changes is maximising the new bus infrastructure in and around Derriford Hospital which will allow Stagecoach to run all 1, 100 and 101 bus services via the hospital.

This will give a combined frequency between the hospital and city centre of up to every seven to eight minutes and between the hospital and The George and Milehouse Park and Ride sites of up to every 15 minutes.

Buses on the 1 service, operating between Tavistock and Plymouth city centre, will all run on a route through Marjon, Derriford Hospital and Mutley every 15 minutes.

Customers travelling from Tavistock who wish to access Plymouth Railway Station will have two options — to either walk to/from Mayflower Street or change onto the 100/101 at Derriford Hospital. Here 1, 100 and 101 bus services will serve the same stop in each direction.

Bob Dennison, managing director of Stagecoach South West, said: ‘These are the first major changes we have made since 2015 and, alongside our great value tickets, I hope they will give our customers even more reason to travel with Stagecoach South West.’

In partnership with City College Plymouth, Stagecoach is also taking over operation of route 36 between the College’s Kings Road Campus and the city centre. Open to the public, the timetable will include more journeys into the evening for students taking part in activities, study and training after the core teaching hours.

New timetables will be available to view at www.stagecoachbus.com and in print shortly. Customers can also download the free Stagecoach app — available in the App and Play stores — or use the website journey planner to plan their journeys. New timetable information will be available via the app or journey planner from mid-August.
