MORE than 250 people turned out at Tavistock's Langsford Park to see a football match between two Plymouth City Bus teams.
The game was a fundraising event organised by Mark Smith from City Bus, whose brother, Matthew, attends the Downham special school, and Mark Truman from Tavistock AFC.
After trying unsuccessfully to arrange a venue in Plymouth, Mark Smith called his friend Mark Truman to see if he could persuade the club to hold the game at Tavistock — it took place on May 2 in glorious sunshine, with City Bus B thrashing City Bus A 5-2.
After the game an evening of fun and a dance was held in the Red and Black Club where an auction raised more than £655.
Football clubs such as Liverpool, Celtic, Manchester City, Walsall, Tavistock, and the new champions of division 2 Plymouth Argyle donated memorabilia — the best was a signed football from Celtic which went for £50.
