BUILDER Jan Hughes Construction of Tavistock has scooped a prestigious Master Builder of Year Award, taking the prize for the Best New Homes builder in the South West of England.

The Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nationwide search by the Federation of Master Builders to find the best builders in Britain, tests each entrant's technical ability together with their customer service skills.  The Awards are unique, as every entrant must be nominated by a satisfied customer.

Jan Hughes Construction beat hundreds of other firms to claim the South West's Best New Homes prize and will now go through to compete in the national Master Builder of the Year Awards.  The winners of the national Awards will be announced by the presenter of C4 Grand Designs Trade Secrets, Naomi Cleaver, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, on Thursday November 13.

Ron Willers, director of FMB South West said: 'The Master Builder of the Year Awards give customers a chance to thank their builder for a job well done. There are plenty of great builders out there, but all too often we only hear of stories where things have gone wrong.

'Jan Hughes Construction has done a fantastic job to win the South West award and we wish them well in the national competition.'

If Jan Hughes Construction wins the coveted Master Builder title, they will drive away in the brand new Light Commercial Vehicle of their choice provided by the principal sponsor of the Award, Nissan Motor (GB) Limited.  The customer who nominated them will win £3,000 holiday of their choice.
