I DO not even pretend to be knowledgeable on such matters, but it does strike me that the increase of £20 per month on Band E properties and on others proportionately so is quite unacceptable, for this increase is most certainly no fault of the taxpayer and therefore unjust.
I suggest that present circumstances appertaining a revaluation be carried out on all properties upgraded since the last general valuation exercise.
All such upgradings will be recorded in the planning department and therefore to do this would be a comparatively simple matter.
I would point out to those cosseted individuals responsible for this increase that for some pensioners on low income £20 per month out of their budget can mean all the difference between leaving the heating on or turning it off, of buying a new coat or scouring the charity shops.
I suggest they get their heads together and find a different solution other than the simple one of passing the buck to the blameless tax payer.
Certainly if I ran up an account I could not meet no one would bale me out, why then should public servants be any different?
