FRIENDS and colleagues may think she is mad but Bryony Herrod-Taylor is 'looking forward' to jumping 3,000 feet out of a plane to boost the Hatherleigh's Community Centre Appeal.
The 34-year-old vet will be one of a number of people jumping for charitable causes at Dunkerswell, near Honiton, on March 4.
'I am on the fundraising committee for the new community centre and I wanted to do something a bit different so I decided to go for a parachute jump,' she said.
'Most people think I am mad but people I have met who have done it say it is a great experience.'
Bryony, who is a member of the North Park Veterinary Group, will be given a day's training prior to the big jump but before then hopes to get as much sponsorship as possible.
The committee is trying to raise £20,000 to buy a piece of land to site the hall, which will be the main focus for the community activities.
The total project is estimated at £750,000 and grants are currently being applied for.
The intention is to sell the current community venue —Hatherleigh Town Hall — which will fall short of new EC standards in 2004.
