THE FRIENDS of the Forgotten Garden of Lewtrenchard and volunteers from Stowford Brownies were digging deep last Saturday to enhance the garden and help the environment.
Peter Webb, the forestry adviser to the friends, said: 'We are planting around 50 small trees in the ancient woodland associated with the Forgotten Garden of Lewtrenchard, which was planned by the Rev Sabine Baring-Gould at the start of the 1900s.
'The trees, which are native, include hazel, ash and oak.'
