THE patron of a popular West Devon brass band will be acting as host for its forthcoming proms concert.
Angela Rippon, the patron of Tavistock's Stannary Brass Band, will be the host for the Proms Concert on Saturday, October 6 in Tavistock Methodist Church.
The band will also be welcoming special guests the Loveny Male Voice Choir to the concert. The choir has performed in Tavistock before and is very much looking forward to joining the band for the event.
Stephen Gray, for the band, said: 'We have been planning this concert for some time and have eventually got together with Loveny. They have had such a busy schedule with overseas concert and competitions, we had to wait three years to arrange a suitable date. The choir has been Cornish Champions three times and has a strong following.
'We hope the evening will provide a mix of styles and entertainment which will be enjoyed by the audience. We also have Rosemary Turner joining us — Rosemary has sung with the band on many occasions and is well known in Tavistock.'
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £1 for children. Advance tickets are available from Ward and Chowen Estate Agents in Tavistock and Yelverton. The band expressed thanks to Ward and Chowen for supporting the event.
Transport may be available from TASS, those interested should contact 01822 616958. A charge will be made by TASS for this service purchase of tickets before the event is recommended.
