UNIQUE photos, maps and rare film footage will bring the history of RAF Harrowbeer airfield to life at a meeting in Buckland Monachorum this Friday, February 23. RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group will give the illustrated talk in Buckland village hall from 7.30pm. It will show all aspects of life, both on and off the airfield, together with its impact on Yelverton. There will be an opportunity to view other photos and artefacts from the Harrowbeer Interest Group archives. Admission is free, with light refreshments available. Stephen Fryer, a member of the group said: Since the formation of the Harrowbeer Interest Group and the creation of our website, we have been surprised by the level of interest that has been generated. 'Our archive grows almost daily and later in the year we will be unveiling interpretation boards at two sites on the airfield so that visitors can better understand the visible remains of the airfield. 'Long term plans include the publishing of a new book on the airfield, and we are always very pleased to hear from anyone who worked or lived around the airfield. All information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, helps towards recording life in and around RAF Harrowbeer.' Guided walks around the airfield are being planned for the spring and autumn. Full details will be posted on the Harrowbeer website, http://www.rafharrowbeer.co.uk">www.rafharrowbeer.co.uk
