THE show is going ahead and the sun is looking set to shine on the 2008 Chagford Show.
It has been a week of misery for showgoers and organisers after last week's enforced cancellation of Okehampton Show. But organisers of the Chagford Show have remained adamant all week, when the weather was predicted to improve, that the show must go on.
The show is taking place today (Thursday) at Mill End in Chagford and is the perfect chance to enjoy a traditional family day out in the heart of Dartmoor.
There will be something for everyone at the show, with all tastes being catered for.
Some of the highlights will include Jonathan Waterer's heavy horse display, the Dolphins marching band, a licensed bar with a special guest celebrity chef, terrier racing and a dog show, 160 trade stands, vintage vehicles, flower and food marquees, children's entertainment, a pets corner and more than 600 sheep, horses and cattle.
Earlier this week show secretary Sally Hutchings was upbeat about the weather and eagerly looking forward to the start of show day.
She said: 'Everyone is keen to make this a success, we're excited and very much looking forward to it.
'If things do go amiss we will, much like Okehampton, be devastated. A year's worth of planning has gone into this.
'We do have contingency plans in place and the people facing the main problems of getting stuck in the mud will be the competitors, not the visitors.'
Parking for the show is free and entrance costs £5 for adults and £1 for children with enjoyment for all age groups assured.
