A LYDFORD woman has launched an appeal to try to raise money to buy a set of fibre optic strand lights for the disabled baby she cares for.
A jumble sale this Saturday, December 8, will be held at Nicholls Hall, Lydford, at 2pm, to raise money for the appeal.
Sally Warren, has been caring for 17 month-old Zak since March, allowing his grandmother to go out to work as a special needs teacher. She is hoping to raise money to buy Zak his own set of fibre optic lights which would cost £3,000. She said Zak, who is partially-sighted and brain-damaged had responded 'brilliantly' to the fibre optics lights, when he had previously been lent a set.
Sally said she had received a 'fantastic response from local people'. She said she had already collected a lot of jumble for the sale but also hoped that anyone who had more jumble would be able to help.
Zak currently attends the specialist West of England School in Exeter, for nursery classes and physiotherapy.
