A TEAM from Renewable Energy 4 Devon came up with a few bright ideas to help save the planet from global warming when they came to Tavistock on Thursday. They parked their bus on Bedford Square and gave advice to passers-by on the benefits of renewable energy supply as well as cost-effective and clean ways it can be used in the home, business, schools and communities. They advocated the advantages of biomass heating, fuelled by logs and pellets; solar water heating, harnessing energy from the sun through solar panels; solar photovoltaic panels which can save 100% electricity and produce a saleable surplus; small scale wind turbines; ground source heat pumps and even small scale hydros, which harness the power of a stream or river. RE4D is a partnership, through Devon County Council, which provides free independent advice and support from enquiry to installation.
