THE first mayor's breakfast of 2014 is to take place in the Charter Hall on Wednesday, January 15.
The monthly breakfast meetings are open to anyone who cares about Okehampton to come and network with others within the community, and the January breakfast will be the third of its kind. At each breakfast, a person involved in the community gives a short talk.
This month's speaker will be Dr Tim Watson of Okehampton Medical Centre. Dr Watson is a partner at the centre, and qualified from Nottingham University Medical School with a BMedSci in 1992 and BM BS in 1994. He passed the MRCGP general practice exam in 1996.
He is actively involved in health and fitness, and has taken part in endurance events for charity, including a cycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands' End for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
Starting at 8am, the breakfast – a full English – costs £7 per person. Payment must be made by Friday, January 10, to be dropped in to the town hall in cash or a cheque made payable to 'Okehampton Town Council - Mayor's Account'. Please ensure you leave your name and telephone number with your payment.
The breakfasts are planned to make a small profit, with all profits going to the mayor's chosen charities for 2014, Get Changed Theatre Company and Tor Support Services.
