A BRAVE Labrador who was involved in a serious accident on the A30 was voted Braveheart of the Year 2009 at Okeford Veterinary Centre.
Five year old Max had sustained a large wound over his right shoulder and another on his left elbow, when he was travelling in a car involved in the accident last September.
Firemen from two crews attended and helped to keep Max calm while he was placed on fluids, pain relief and antibiotics. He was then taken to surgery where it was found his intestines were being strangulated by his abdominal tissue, probably due to Max being thrown around the car during the accident.
Max was awarded the Katie Bater Memorial Cup and a framed picture marking his outstanding bravery.
Both Max and his owner have now recovered well together.
