Okehampton Argyle . . . . . . . . . . 1

Heavitree SU . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3

THE opening half hour was evenly contested, with Rob Sandercock and Stuart Cann, from a well taken free kick, going closest for Argyle.

But then a defensive blunder let Heavitree in for an early opening goal.

An underhit backpass to keeper Shaun Sandercock, was gratefully picked up by Gary Webb, who coolly placed his shot into the corner of the net to put the visitors one up.

The early part of the second half was again Argyle?s best period, first, a free kick flashed across the face of the goal, just begging for someone to get a touch to help it over the line. Then in the space of a few minutes, James Williams cleared a certain goal for Heavitree off the line, then popped up at the other end to crash a shot against the upright and back into play.

Heavitree increased their lead on 65 minutes, when a good right wing cross was headed past Sandercock by Wayne King.

Almost immediately, Phil Evans pulled a goal back for Argyle to give the home side a ray of hope.

Despite several brave saves from Sandercock, Heavitree deservedly went into a 3-1 lead with a powerful cross shot ten minutes from time.

This win puts Heavitree top of the table, while Argyle now join Thorverton at the bottom

Another tough match awaits Argyle on Saturday with a rearranged fixture at home to Seaton Town, who are currently in third position, kick-off 3pm.
