This year Laura Eastwood is training with the English under 21 golf squad. She has recently been awarded the Plymouth Woman of Achievement Award for the sporting category.
Laura will enter a good number of appropriate golfing competitions this year. To help cover her expenses Yelverton Golf Club generously provided facilities for her to organise two fundraising events on March 27 (for ladies) and 29 (for men).
The ladies? competition was a three-ball better ball, with one stableford score to count. There was huge support with more than 90 ladies entering the event. The winning team were all Yelverton players, Maggie Flanagan, Dawn Bolt and Julie Percy who won with 42 points.
Two days later, the men held a four-ball better ball competition that attracted 150 entries. The competition was won by Ray Curran and Ron Smith with an outstanding score of 50 points.
Local firms and members contributed prizes and raffle prizes to assist in the fundraising, and more than £3,100 was raised, to be paid into her bursary held by the English Ladies? Golf Association.
