Horrabridge Girls v Tavistock Girls
THE result of this local derby did little justice to the valiant efforts of Horrabridge who, after only their second game, found themselves up against a skilled and experienced Tavistock.
At half-time, Horrabridge were 8-0 down following skilful play between Tavistock's Rebecca Rose and Robyn Hammond. Rose delivered a perfectly weighted ball from a corner kick to Hammond who took it on the volley — back-heeling it into the net to go four up. Later in the first half, Rose produced the shot of the match when she curled a ball into the net from a corner kick.
In the second half Horrabridge came out fighting and denied Tavistock practically every opportunity to increase the score save for one in the dying minutes of the game. Horrabridge made numerous runs on goal and were rewarded after skilful demolition of Tavistock's defences by Summer Rosenguest, who put her team on the scoresheet.
