Paignton v Tavistock
TAVISTOCK first team met Paignton premier side in the Cup and were put in the field by Justin Mann.
A cracking catch by Roesstorff off Doel?s bowling dismissed Hancock, Paignton?s danger man.
The first five wickets fell for 148. This brought Beer and Benton together for a partnership of 110 which took Tavistock?s bowling to task, hitting fours and sixes around the field.
Paignton ended their 40 overs with 264 for 6. Steve Nicholson was the pick of the bowlers 8-0-21-1.
Tavistock set about a big task but lost McGahey with the score on 6.
This brought Arnie Searle to bat with Steve Luffman, who put on 49.
Tavistock then lost Dave Manning to a one-handed brilliant catch by Aussie Ted Sawkins.
Searle made 67 and Mortimore 31 and things were looking hopeful until Roesstorff was run out on 45 with the score on 221.
Tavistock ended their 40 overs on 234 for 7, Kaitiff 17 not out and Gauler 3 not out.
A brave fight from the B division team against a premier side.
