THE Plymouth and West Devon branch of NCT — formerly the National Childbirth Trust — has been congratulated for being one of the top fundraising branches in the UK.
The branch holds two nearly new sales every year which attract several hundred buyers.
Parents apply in advance to become sellers at the sale which has everything from baby clothes to cots, toys and books to maternity wear and more.
All the money raised is split, with the seller receiving 65%.
The NCT use their share of the money raised for local projects such as Bumps and Babes, which provides a social network for new and expectant mothers with groups in Tavistock, Plymouth and Ivybridge and Tavistock and national projects such as the NCT's Helplines.
Corrina Vasiliou, the Plymouth and West Devon branch co-ordinator, said: 'We could not achieve this level of success without our fantastic volunteers. Mums, dads, family and friends help to organise and run the sales and we actually have a lot of fun doing it.'
