THE ladies of the Royal British Legion Okehampton women's section held a special lunch on Monday, May 21 to celebrate 85 years since the branch was formed.

The branch was formed on April 4, 1927 and is still going strong.

County president Sue Stevens visited the ladies at the club's home on Station Road to present branch president Charlotte Sparkes with a certificate.

She said: 'It gives me great pleasure to give the Okehampton branch this award as thanks for the hard work of all the Okehampton ladies. All I can say is keep up the good work.'
