A YOUNG boy was airlifted to Derriford hospital with serious injuries, after a road traffic collision in Lifton on Monday.
The accident happened at approximately 3.35pm outside the Fox and Grapes public house on the old A30 at Tinhay, Lifton.
A police spokesperson said a red Vauxhall Cavalier had been in collision with a pedestrian ? a nine-year-old local boy.
Police and ambulance paramedics attended the scene and the boy was airlifted to hospital with leg fractures and head injuries.
His condition was later described as serious but stable and the head injury as superficial.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed in both directions for around four hours and diversions were put in place.
