TAVISTOCK postman Barry Chappell retired from the Royal Mail last weekend, after 44 years of loyal service.
Barry started his career as a telegram boy in 1958, before being promoted to office manager, spending time in Callington before returning to Tavistock.
During his long career, he has pushed mail through virtually every door in the Tavistock area.
He said: ?I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Royal Mail. I will miss the day-to-day involvement and the great team of people I worked with.
?But I won?t miss getting up at 3.30am.?
Barry intends to enjoy his retirement by taking up bowling, and was presented with a set of woods from his colleagues.
