AS part of the celebrations of 200 years since its inception, the Royal Horticultural Society is asking for gardens nationwide to be open to the public to help its bicentenary appeal. The appeal seeks to fund the erection and equipping of a new Glasshouse and Learning Centre which would serve as a focus of the society?s broadened educational strategy, the ?Vision for Learning?. Hosta experts Ann and Roger Bowden have agreed to open their garden at Cleave House, Sicklepath, this Sunday between 10.30am and 5pm. The garden will be one of about 100 nationwide, which will be open to support this worthy project. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the national collection of modern hybrid hostas in a garden setting of maturing trees and shrubs. Donations to the fund will be accepted at the entrance.
