SCOUTS from Tavistock and Okehampton are joining others across Devon making final preparations to go on the trip of a lifetime to Denmark this summer.
Daisy Bol, 14, from Okehampton said: 'I'm really looking forward to meeting loads of other Scouts and making friends. I know I'm going to gain new skills and enjoy myself.'
Catherine Berna, 14, Tavistock, said: 'Since I joined Scouts, I've been doing adventurous stuff all the time like camping, tree surfing and my Duke of Edinburgh awards, but this trip will be amazing. I can't wait for the fun to begin.'
During the 10 day camp, Scouts will have the opportunity to try challenges from ancient skills like lighting fires with flint, to 21st century skills with the internet or constructing robots and solar panels.
Leader Paul Charlton said: 'I have seen first hand the real benefits of Scouts coming together to participate in a truly international event. This enables all of those attending to experience the incredible and remarkable single family of Scouting that bridges barriers created by politicians, governments and dictators alike.
'Attending an international world scout event gives the participating young people the chance to experience what world peace can really look like and to strive to do their own little bit to help the world become a friendlier and more peaceful place.'
