ROYAL North Devon?s Robin Goodey secured a much needed boost in his bid to win golf?s DCPGA Order of Merit by winning the latest round in the winter medal series at Libbaton GC with a new course record of three under par 70.

He won by one stroke from the ever consistent Jon Langmead (Hele Park) and Ashley Moon (Okehampton) on 71. The event also saw a welcome return to form from Torquay?s Cliff Strange who came fourth on 72.

It was the DCPGA?s first visit to Libbaton, and they found a challenging course in fantastic condition.

The Order of Merit is up for grabs next time at Churston. It is the final event and the players then select their best seven scores from ten rounds. Jon Langmead is the current leader, but good performances from Stuart Disney, Barry Austin and Robin Goodey could see them snatch the title.
