CHILDREN in Africa will soon be receiving a raft of new books, thanks to a sponsored reading drive at Horrabridge Community Primary School.
The sponsored reading scheme encouraged children at the school to read as much as they could after school to help raise funds for books in aid of the Book Bus foundation, which works to raise literacy levels in underprivileged countries including Africa and India.
The fundraising drive was supported by children's book publishers, Usborne, who agreed to supply the books and match the amount raised.
A total of £851 was raised by the school, resulting in £1,200 worth of books and £500 cash donation to the Book Bus including the contribution from Usborne.
