Wadebridge U16s 27

Tavistock U16s 37

WITH a limited number of players available to travel away to Wadebridge a makeshift Tavistock pack did well to contain the much larger Wadebridge forwards enabling the superior skills and pace of the visitors to dominate open play.

Tavistock took an early lead as good support play set up Jack Bond to score in the corner.  The home side responded with a penalty kick and then took the lead as missed tackles allowed the Wadebridge wing to cross the line.  Tavistock levelled with a try from Tom Thursby as the ball was moved wide from a lineout on the Wadebridge 22.

A try from the restart for Dan Oner and a second for Bond saw Tavistock end the first half with a ten point lead.

Tavistock extended their lead at the start second half as Mark Friend made good ground off the back of a scrum and quick ball from the resultant ruck allowed fly-half Phil Snell to score.

A chip through by George Rodgers on the wing set up a similar try for James Lockley.  An interception by Snell while Tavistock were defending inside their 22 set up another hat-trick for Bond as he beat the Wadebridge defence to his own kick ahead.

The large Wadebridge pack were always dangerous when allowed near the Tavistock line and drove over on three occasions in the second half.

Dogged defence by Tavistock however held up the home side repeatedly and allowed them to maintain their advantage and take a deserved win.
