North Tawton 76

Bideford Thirds 12

IN North Tawton's only game on Saturday a mixture of first and second team players took on Bideford's third string team.

North Tawton pressure told after only five minutes when centre Lyndon Hughes broke through for a try. This was quickly followed when captain Joe Fewings at outside half broke wide to feed Stuart Peters inside for a great try.

Peters again broke free and ran 50 metres unopposed for the line.

The floodgates were now open and tries came in rapid succession. From a maul, scrumhalf Malcolm Fewings went over and good handling and interplay saw new centre Simon Metcalf crash over. Also from a maul, Richard Nye broke clear to run 35 metres for the line.

North Tawton looked well in control but seemed to lose their way a little and let Bideford back in. Hughes got his second try and Nigel Denis, man of the match, collected a try.

After a quick penalty Neil Peters at second row picked up a score as did his brother Stuart Peters, who collected his second score.

Stuart Peters also set up a try for another newcomer, Alex Searle, on the wing.

Bideford, to their great credit, struck back with two quick tries.

Fred Bolt at prop got a try in the final seconds for North Tawton.

l North Tawton's rested players from the firsts take on Marjons in their important last league fixture which if they win could see them safe in the league.

North Tawton Seconds are also home to Tiverton Thirds, both kick-off 3pm.
