A PAINTING by West Devon artist Bob Mountjoy has been accepted for a prestigious exhibition.

Bob, who lives in Horrabridge, has his work hanging in the inaugural exhibition of the South West of England Academy at the Phoenix Arts Centre, Exeter.

More than 700 paintings were submitted to the selection committee who then picked just 90 to show.

Bob works in acrylics and his multi-layered paintings take many months to complete with only a few coming onto the market each year.

His painting for the exhibition is a small study of a bantam. It was sold to an unknown buyer as soon as the catalogue was released — and before the exhibition opened to the public.

The exhibition, which includes pictures by Peter Blake and Terry Frost, continues throughout August.
