RESIDENTS and visitors in the Mary Tavy and Peter Tavy area have been angered over recent vandalism at a popular swimming spot along the River Tavy.

Illegible words have been painted in blue on rocks at the well-used spot between the two villages — and although the paint seems to be water soluble, the attack has upset residents and visitors alike.

One concerned resident, who found the vandalism on Monday morning, said: ‘It looks like someone has gone specifically to the area just to paint it blue.

‘It’s a lovely area but is not an easy walk to get to and you have to know where you are going.’

Another village resident who visited the beauty spot on Sunday said: ‘It’s absolutely infuriating to see this senseless vandalism.

‘I simply cannot understand the mentality of people who do this sort of thing — or their motivation.’
