SHOPPERS and stall holders in Tavistock were entertained by local musicians at the recent Artists' Market in Bedford Square.
A number of community bands played during the Artists' Market on May 5, showcasing music from wind instruments, flutes, recorders and saxophones.
Wind band Blowzone, with 35 members of all ages and experience directed by Peter Jones, played covers of a variety of musical genres, ranging from pop/rock to classical.
The Saxophonics is a saxophone ensemble and this was the first time the group of ten had played in public. Its repertoire covers many genres, including pop and rock, swing and the iconic sax favourites.
Flute Cocktail also entertained, playing a variety of music from Bach to Joplin. The group is Devon's largest flute choir and is directed by Sarah Hunt.
Also playing was recorder ensemble Razzmatazz Recorders. The group was started in 2008 and currently has around 16 members of varying experience.
All four community bands are open to all local musicians and are always happy to welcome new members. Playing in a group is a great way to improve musical skills and gain confidence and experience as well as having fun.
