DARTMOOR is celebrated in one of four new blessings written by a Princetown clergyman for inclusion in a new book of worship material.
The 'Dartmoor blessing' draws on well-known characteristics of the moor, the granite rocks, the plentiful rain and the many stone crosses.
The blessings, written by the Rev Simon Taylor, project officer at the St. Michael's (Princetown) Trust are included in the latest book by the publishing company Wild Goose Publications, part of the Iona Community.
Simon Taylor has written a number of liturgies and prayers for the St Michael's (Princetown) Trust — all with an environmental theme and often drawing inspiration from the landscape of Dartmoor — from which the four blessings have been selected.
Mr Taylor described it as a 'great privilege' to be included in a book by Wild Goose Publications.
A Book of Blessings features a collection of blessings for journeys, homes, seasons, festivals and special occasions.
The Rev Tim Woods, chair of trustees for the St Michael's (Princetown) Trust, said: 'This is a wonderful opportunity to show what the Trust has to offer. I am delighted that Simon Taylor's imaginative contributions are included in a Book of Blessings.
'They represent the first effects of our small but dedicated base as we encourage churches to celebrate and reflect on our responsibility for God's creation.'
