BLACKSMITHS from all over the country will be homing in on Sticklepath on Saturday November 20 to celebrate their patron saint, St Clement, in the traditional manner at Finch Foundry.
This annual gathering provides a rear opportunity to see them demonstrating their skills and to see some of the country's top blacksmiths in competition, producing test pieces that are judged at the end of the day.
Among the traditions will be the spectacular 'firing the anvil' with gunpowder and demonstrations of the water–powered trip hammers, working in the foundry and recreating the atmosphere of a Victorian forge, starting at 10.30am.
Entry to the foundry is free during the day's celebrations.
