THE Triangle Centre in Tavistock, which provides advice and support for cancer sufferers, is due to celebrate its second birthday this June.
Since its launch, the doors of the centre at Tavistock Hospital have been open every Friday from 10am to 4pm.
The range of services provided includes information and advice, communication and support, counselling, benefits advice, palliative care expertise, and complementary therapies such as massage, homeopathy, reflexology and aromatherapy.
Claire Morgan-Hughes, cancer information officer, said: ?This innovative and exciting service is a local healthcare venture bringing together the expertise of professionals in cancer care, so that support can be offered at any stage of the illness.?
The partners behind the cancer centre are South Hams and West Devon Primary Care Trust, Plymouth Primary Care Trust (PCT), St Luke?s Hospice and the Mustard Tree Support Centre based at Derriford Hospital.
Gill Davies, day hospice sister at St Luke?s Hospice, said: ?It is a sad fact, but one in three people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime.
?These people will require information and support during a time of confusion and anxiety. The Tavistock Triangle Centre provides such services to help people through their individual journeys.?
The celebrations will be hosted between 11am and 3pm on June 13 at Tavistock Hospital ? a finger buffet will be available between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Members of the public are warmly invited to attend the celebrations and to meet the professionals who are involved with managing the cancer centre. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about what help is on offer.
